I spent most of the past few months gathering speed for the final chapters of a novel entitled Absolute Beginner. It is a book about Eugenia in the world of film-making. Many readers of wanted to know what happens to Eugenia after Bambina, and I had many ideas about that. I write all the time because so many of my thoughts are turned to writing. I write on my notepad. At times, I write a page. But I write well only when I am able to turn off the noise. It is almost as difficult as writing. I sometimes end up carrying a suitcase off a train, along a country lane or up the stairs to a room with an empty desk and none of my books on the shelves. After Spark Box Studio, an artists' residence in Prince Edward County, on Lake Ontario and a former Grey Nuns convent in Montréal, I am getting ready for La Muse, in South-West France.
